Parent Code of Conduct

The CGYS Parents Code of Conduct promotes parental behavior that positively impacts their child's sports experience and fosters a healthy, supportive, and respectful environment for all participants.

  • Contribute to a positive experience by demonstrating support and respect for all players, regardless of their skill level.

    • Do not criticize players on your team or on the opposing team

  • Focus on effort, teamwork, and personal growth rather than only on winning or outcomes.

    • Accept the outcome of the game with a positive attitude

  • Demonstrate support and respect for the coaches

    • Be on time to practices and games

    • Communicate with coaches in advance if your player is unable to attend practice or games

    • Do not coach players from the sidelines

    • Trust the judgement of coaches

Be respectful and supportive of all participants (players, coaches, officials, and other parents), avoiding negative comments, rude behavior, or disruptive actions at games and practices.

I understand that I play a vital role in ensuring that my child and all participants in youth sports have a positive, respectful, and enriching experience. I will commit to being a supportive and responsible parent, promoting the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others at all times.

Player Code of Conduct

  • Always play your best, play fairly, and play for fun.

  • Show respect to all involved in the game including teammates, opponents, coaches, referees, parents, and spectators.

  • Be supportive of your teammates by encouraging them when they make mistakes and celebrating with them when they have successes.

  • Do not criticize the play of others and do not blame others (including the referee).

  • Be punctual to practices and games; listen to your coaches and follow their directions.

  • Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat.  Congratulate your opponent and extend thanks to the game officials after competition regardless of whether you win or lose.

  • Follow the rules of the game.

I understand that it is my responsibility to follow the CGYS Player Code of Conduct and that by doing so, I can contribute to a positive and successful experience for myself and my soccer teammates.  I will commit to being a good team player.
